Things change when the Drapers finish their meal. First, Don, the show’s protagonist, tosses an empty can into the tree-lined distance. Then his wife Betty shakes out the picnic blanket, leaving a trail of litter in her wake. But nobody blinks. The family of four just packs up and drives away, abandoning the remnants of their lunch. Packaging and all, everything goes to waste.
Watch it today, and the scene is almost funny. I mean, who would do such a thing?
We’ve made a lot of progress these past few decades—environmentally, that is. I mean, littering is far from the norm nowadays, and communities are recycling more than ever before. (In the U.S., the recycling rate increased from 7% in the 1960s to 32% in 2023.) Yet how many of us are reusing our favorite products and packaging?
As Chief Sustainability Officer at Sky Organics, I want to work with you to extend the lifespan of your personal care products. I also want to highlight the power of upcycling in honor of Global Recycling Day this month.
Will you join me in seeing opportunity instead of waste?
Upcycling is a creative, sustainable way to extend the use of everyday items. The idea is to breathe new life into a product or packaging, by giving it a completely new purpose. In many cases, upcycling involves holding on to items that would otherwise be discarded—and using them in innovative ways. The goal here is to promote a more circular economy.
THE BENEFITS OF UPCYCLING INCLUDE:
Waste reduction
Upcycling personal care packaging minimizes the amount of waste that goes to landfills. By repurposing or recycling empty containers, we can keep lowering our environmental impact.
Resource conservation
It’s simple: upcycling extends the life of materials like droppers and jars. This reduces the need to produce new materials—saving energy and resources over time.
Creativity and inspiration
With a little experimentation, consumers can figure out what they can easily upcycle. (Empty glass bottles, for example, are really simple to repurpose.) Now’s the time to get creative.
Community-building
At Sky Organics, we love hearing how our community is repurposing our products and packaging. Share your efforts with us on social media—and don’t forget to follow us on TikTok and Instagram!
When you run out of an oil or serum, you may feel the urge to toss your packaging and never look back.
But there are actually plenty of ways you can extend the life of your products or empty packaging. Here are some pro tips:
Read ➜01Create custom facial toners in our glass bottles.
When you finish one of our products, you don’t have to say goodbye to the packaging it came in. Clean your glass bottles and droppers thoroughly, and instead of discarding them, use them to create a custom toner blend. Consider including ingredients like Organic Rosewater, Organic Lavender Oil, and Vitamin E Oil.
02Don’t throw products out when you’re running low.
Did you know you can mix the last bit of your well-loved Organic Shea Butter or Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil with other amazing ingredients? This will keep those final portions of your items from going to waste—and help you work those creative muscles. Consider crafting a DIY moisturizer, scented with essential oils, to make good use of what’s left.
Pro tip: Look no further than our partnership with PACT Collective for insights on hard-to-recycle materials like pumps, sprays, and droppers!
03Use empty containers for even more storage.
We like to encourage our community to reuse our packaging and experiment with DIY beauty recipes. That said, your upcycling journey shouldn’t end there. Empty containers like glass jars and even our resealable Organic Cotton Oval bags can be cleaned and used for storage. Stylish and functional, you can repurpose our packaging to hold hairpins, jewelry, and so much more. This will help you not only conserve resources, but stay organized.
And if you don’t have a clear need for your empties, then definitely recycle them. We have a QR code on every product that gives you step-by-step instructions for doing just that!
So what do you say? This Global Recycling Day, I encourage you to think about that scene I mentioned in Mad Men—and instead move in the opposite direction. By making upcycling a key part of your beauty routine, you can do your part to lower your environmental footprint and unleash your creativity
Talk about a conscious approach to personal care!
Last fall, we talked about the best ways to transition your skincare to autumn. We explored how important it is to adapt your personal care routine to the climate. And now, as we move from harsh winter temps to warmer horizons (yay!), it’s time to look in the opposite direction.
Regardless of how amazing your personal care routine is, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to glowing skin. And with the cold weather almost behind us (we hope), it’s time to invest in lighter moisturizers and antioxidant-rich products. With us by your side, you can achieve an even dewier look.
One of the best times to adjust your skincare regimen is when the seasons change. This transitional period will help you plan for what’s to come.
It’s so important to be prepared, because seasonal changes have a major impact on the skin. In warm weather, for example, the skin naturally produces more oil—creating a sheen of sorts. On the other hand, in cooler conditions, low humidity makes the skin’s moisture evaporate faster. In some cases, this leads to serious dryness.
This is where more lightweight products come in. We also recommend practicing gentle exfoliation to help remove the dry skin cells from winter. Another suggestion is to bring sunscreen back into your daily routine if you aren’t already using it year-round.
And finally, we encourage you to lean into antioxidant-rich products. These can help your skin respond to environmental stressors, such as more UV exposure, and help you get the hydration your skin has craved this winter.

The spring season brings higher humidity and warmer temperatures. While these changes are exciting, you’ll need to reconsider some of the heavier products you’ve been using.
This brings us to our favorite springtime skincare products (made with Certified Organic ingredients whenever possible). When you’re ready to refresh your routine, consider these amazing options.
This lovely prickly pear and camellia oil blend will deliver dewy hydration all spring long. Lightweight and quick to absorb, our Organic Morning Dew Oil Serum creates a smooth, moisture-locking canvas.
Made with just 4 pure, potent, undiluted ingredients, it also promotes glowing skin with or without makeup, and it won a 2023 Glamour Magazine Beauty & Wellness Award. Talk about a way to honor your skin and the new season.
Curious about what our customers think? Here are some kind words from Kat133:

No matter what time of year we’re approaching, it’s important to reassess your personal care routine. We encourage you to take note of how you look and feel, and make mindful adjustments based on what you see.
If things just don’t seem right, it may be time to reevaluate what you put on your precious skin. Far too many beauty brands use harsh products made from less than ideal ingredients.
Fortunately, our industry is evolving. Brands are accepting it simply isn’t worth settling when it comes to your skin. And with that, we’ll remind you that certifiably-better beauty is always the answer
Here at Sky Organics, we take pride in using pure and potent ingredients that people trust. Our team only uses ingredients with a clear purpose and benefit—because full transparency is our highest priority.
So what do you think? Will you join Sky Organics for a spectacular spring renewal?
We’re approaching the end of winter, which is the perfect time to look ahead and embrace a fresh start. Plus, we have Valentine’s Day and Leap Day to celebrate this year.
Now, when we think of February 14, we usually picture romance: red roses, delicious dinners, and quality time. We tend to think about how we can shower our loved ones with TLC and share the perfect experiences with our favorite people. There’s nothing like getting creative and showing our significant others how much we love them
This year, I challenge you to take things a step further. It’s time to point Cupid’s arrow in a new direction: at yourself!
Love and romance are energizing, but they aren’t limited to other people. February is a period of connection, and with that comes the opportunity to love ourselves and our amazing planet.
When you hear the term self-love, what comes to mind?
You may think that self-love means accepting yourself completely. Yet self-love encompasses so much more than that; it involves treating yourself with kindness, respecting your well-being, and embracing personal growth
These are all important aspects of self-love. But here’s another consideration: self-love is not only about how you view yourself, but also about how you engage with the world! From eating a balanced diet to living an active lifestyle, it’s symbiotic.
Because self-love means loving the planet we call home! As Chief Sustainability Officer at Sky Organics, I mean it when I say that now is the time to act. I urge you to make environmentally conscious living a part of your daily life. Together, we can say goodbye to single-use plastics, choose USDA Organic ingredients, and prioritize brands that genuinely care.
Sky Organics is part of a select group of brands embodying these principles. When you shop our products, you’re not only investing in your personal well-being; you’re also supporting a company that adheres to high standards of social and environmental responsibility!

This year, we want you to fall in love—with stronger, fuller, healthier-looking hair. Sky Organics is here to help you find simple yet effective haircare, harnessing the purest and potent certified organic ingredients.
We can’t wait to introduce you to our new products!
Sky Organics’ best-selling product is back with a vengeance! Available in a 6 fl. oz size exclusively at Walmart, our Organic Castor Oil supports stronger, fuller, healthier-looking hair. (It’s also amazing on the lashes and brows.) A natural source of nourishing fatty acids, it conditions the roots, nourishes the hair follicles, and moisturizes the scalp.
Here’s what consumer Ashley Mattis shared:
“I recently tried organic castor oil and I must say, I am extremely impressed with its performance and versatility.
First and foremost, the fact that this castor oil is organic is a major plus for me. I appreciate knowing that it is free from any harmful chemicals or pesticides, making it a safe and natural option for my skincare and haircare routine.
One of the main uses of castor oil is for hair growth and strengthening, and I have definitely seen positive results in this area. I have been applying the oil to my scalp and massaging it in, and I have noticed that my hair feels thicker and healthier. It has also helped to reduce hair breakage and split ends, leaving my hair looking and feeling much more lustrous.”

This single-ingredient conditioning oil is not to be missed! It’s pure, cold-pressed, and hexane-free.
For the best results, use the oil as a pre-shampoo or overnight treatment. Simply massage into the dry scalp and leave for an hour. Rinse with shampoo.
To boost the lashes and brows, apply 1-2 drops nightly using a clean eyeliner brush, mascara brush, or organic cotton swab.
Our Organic Castor Oil is easily recyclable. Just rinse the bottle, reattach the cap, and include with your other plastic recycling.
Think your local program might not accept the cap? We’ve got you covered! Recycle it through our Pact Collective partnership instead.
New arrival alert! Made with just two simple ingredients, our Organic Argan & Fractionated Coconut Oil gently fights frizz and flyaways. It gives hair a sleek and shiny finish, and the treatment is perfect for all hair types.
Want to know why we adore this oil? Lighter than pure Moroccan argan oil, Sky Organics’ simple botanical blend is carefully crafted to tame unruly hair—without weighing the tresses down! It’s also super-versatile and can be applied before or after styling.
Oh, and did we mention it’s fast and easy to use? Just apply 1-3 pumps to clean, towel-dried hair (from mid-length to the ends), and then blow or air dry. You can also smooth the organic blend over dry hair for an equally stunning finish!
To up the wow factor even more, let’s talk recyclability! The glass bottle and carton can be easily recycled curbside— and the pump can be recycled through our partnership with Pact Collective.

Wow. It’s 2024, and I’m not quite sure how that can be.
It feels like only recently we launched our brand in 2015. From where I’m standing, it’s hard to believe it wasn’t just yesterday that Sky Organics announced our latest sustainability goals. And now here we are.
In some ways, the world is in a precarious place. But I want to see the good where I can. My daughter will turn two soon, and I’ve been in awe of how she experiences things. She’s vocal, optimistic, and becoming her own person.
My wish last year was to play even a small role in making her environment more sustainable. I’m pleased to say that societally, and as a company, I think we’ve made some headway.
I think we’re holding ourselves accountable, making recycling more accessible, and engaging a community of like-minded people.
How do I know for sure? As Chief Sustainability Officer at Sky Organics, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on the year. I hope you’ll join me while I go over some important milestones.
There’s a real focus on always aiming to do better. This aligns with Sky Organics’ vision, which includes offering:
• Simple, pure, and potent products
• Sustainably sourced natural and Certified Organic ingredients
• Eco Conscious packaging
• An unwavering commitment to the welfare of our customers, workers, and the overarching community
It means so much that B Lab has partnered with us. Moving forward, I encourage you to join the movement and track our progress on the official B Corp website.
Last spring, Sky Organics officially became a Certified B Corporation. This was huge for us. Our company has long been driven by a purpose beyond profit, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement.
Truly, it was an honor to see our efforts recognized. Certified B Corps work collectively to strengthen the global economy. The idea is to create an inclusive and regenerative economic system—one where companies act with intention.
How do companies earn B Corp Certification? A nonprofit network called B Lab helps to hold for-profit companies accountable. They make sure brands meet high standards of social and environmental impact, and that we consistently act with intention.

At Sky Organics, our 2023 rebrand involved so much more than a new website and a better ecommerce experience. We also moved away from virgin plastic bottles and started using 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) containers.
At Sky Organics, our 2023 rebrand involved so much more than a new website and a better ecommerce experience. We also moved away from virgin plastic bottles and started using 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) containers.
This was a major shift for us (in the best sense). The same way we offer pure and potent ingredients, we’ve made it our mission to offer sustainable packaging. After all, products made from recycled plastics reportedly reduce energy consumption by 79% and greenhouse gas emissions by 67%.
So in 2023, we committed to selling products in plastic bottles and jars made from 100% recycled material. We also started using cartons made with responsibly and sustainably sourced paper—certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Our transition to PCR has been deeply impactful.
Naturally, we wanted to encourage consumers to recycle the bottles and jars behind the oils and serums they so love. (Of course, reusing those materials is always an option too.)
But recycling is just as important. To prioritize this, we added a QR code to all of our packaging that links to specific recycling instructions on our website. We also wanted to highlight our partnership with Pact Collective. Through this partnership, you can conveniently recycle hard-to-recycle components through our mail-back collection program. These include pumps, sprays, and other items that aren’t accepted through curbside recycling.
Oh, and did we mention that Sky Organics is covering all collection and recycling fees? All you have to do is fund the $5 shipping expense.
Don’t worry, though: you’ll be reimbursed. As a special thank you, we’ll send you a discount code for $5 off your next purchase of $20 or more.

The goal is to fight climate change by restoring forests in mostly underserved communities. The nonprofit also creates jobs for people like Beatrice, who earns a living through an Ecologi-funded project in Kenya. Clearly, Ecologi is doing great work. At Sky Organics, our work with them funded over 22,000 trees in 2023 alone!
When my daughter is a little older, we’ll talk more about reforestation and what it means for the planet. In the meantime, Sky Organics will keep recycling, working with Ecologi, and upholding our sustainability commitment.
And we’ll continue having you, our consumers, along for the ride. Cheers to a healthy, happy, climate-friendly 2024.

As Sky Organics looks ahead in 2024, we want to celebrate everything that we accomplished in the last year. We’ve evolved quite a bit since we launched our business in 2015—but 2023 was a year for the books.
Our team is proud of the changes we’ve made, and we’re grateful to you: our community. It’s been a real honor to share our Certified Organic beauty products with you.
With that, it’s time for our year in review. Together, let’s go over some of the highlights we experienced in 2023. Stay tuned for even more exciting updates over the next year!
Last spring, Sky Organics debuted an elevated and sustainable new look. The response to our rebrand overwhelmed us, and our team is endlessly grateful for your support.
First, we redesigned our packaging. Our goal was to make seamless updates that represented our commitment to integrity and ingredient transparency. Today we’re thrilled to showcase our functional offerings and the Leaping Bunny Certified cruelty-free logo directly on our products. Everything we’ve done reflects our new look, right down to our website and Amazon storefront page.
It wouldn’t have been a rebrand if we hadn’t generated buzz on social media too. We had a great time crafting our rebrand campaign, sharing our plans, and voicing our brand promise. Now more than ever, we hope you’ll embrace organic beauty made simple right along with us.
Finally, our rebrand put the spotlight on sustainability. We transitioned to bottles and jars made with 100% recycled materials, switched to FSC-certified paper for our cartons, and more. We even launched products in plastic-free tubes made with sugarcane and recycled paper! And we now offer a link on our labels outlining simple step-by-step recycling instructions.
You can learn more about our 2023 sustainability initiatives here.
Our rebrand wasn’t the only thing we focused on last year. In 2023, Sky Organics released several new products that made a real splash.
Made with functional and purposeful ingredients, these simple blends act as pure and potent beauty boosters. Each one targets a specific skin concern and works alongside other products for an enhanced hydrating benefit.
Take our Vitamin C Bright Glow Oil Serum, which delivers the brightening effect consumers crave—especially in the winter! Meanwhile, the Organic Age Embrace Oil Serum infuses the skin with moisture and antioxidants that promote a more youthful-looking appearance.
You can apply these oil serums directly or mix them into your favorite skincare item. For precise application of the Organic Lash & Brow Oil, use the applicator to delicately coat your lash line and eyebrows.
Other new releases include our Organic Morning Dew Oil Serum and Organic Rebounce Oil Serum. They too have quickly become customer favorites!
Consumers tell us the soothing, softening effect of this product line is simply unmatched.
Our Organic Shea Replenishing Butter Stick features antioxidant support and a smooth, strong finish. Effortlessly uncap and glide this enriching organic shea butter blend over your skin for swift moisture replenishment. A recent reviewer calls it “perfect for winter dry skin.” Here at Sky Organics, our Organic Ultra Moisture Coconut Oil Stick is another customer favorite. It also glides smoothly over dry areas, locking in ultimate hydration. “It adds a nice amount of moisture without leaving a greasy feeling behind on your skin,” said one reviewer, who notes that the stick form makes for easy and stress-free travel.
These products deliver a spa-like experience we think you’ll love! Our Organic Extra Hydrating Body Oil includes a blend of borage and sweet almond oil—and it’s a fantastic way to restore parched skin.
And our Organic Petroleum-free Jelly is the multipurpose balm customers have been asking for. This organic medicine cabinet staple functions just like its petroleum-based cousin, but is made from pure botanical ingredients.
What could be more nourishing than pure and potent organic hair care blends? In 2023, we released three restorative oils that have been a real hit in our community.
The blended formula behind our Organic Amla & Rosemary Oil promotes shiny hair and a refreshed scalp.
One reviewer praised “Sky Organics Organic Amla & Rosemary Oil is like a hot oil treatment without the heat. It is easy to apply, smells good, and left my hair and scalp feeling and looking healthier.”
We created the Organic Split End Bonding Oil to nourish dull, dry and frayed strands—and another customer shares her experience, stating, “This oil worked great for my split ends and helped hydrate the dryness as well. I color my hair and use styling irons so it’s always needing repair and this is now my favorite staple”.
And for those who love the fragrant scent of rosemary, look no further than our Organic Rosemary Strong Roots Oil! This awesome blend supports the scalp and invigorates the hair right at the roots for stronger, thicker and fuller looking hair.
We introduced plenty of new products in 2023—but what we didn’t mention was that one of them earned a coveted Glamour Beauty & Wellness award.
Sky Organics’ Organic Morning Dew Oil Serum is a soothing blend of organic prickly pear oil, camellia oil, red raspberry oil, and vitamin E. This lightweight, priming oil serum creates a smooth, hydrated canvas that’ll keep the skin fresh and dewy all day long.
Here’s what Andrea Lewis, assistant to Glamour’s global editorial director, had to say about our serum:
“My night routine is incomplete without this soothing oil. The formula keeps my face hydrated throughout the night, so I wake up with the loveliest glow. If my skin ever appears dull or dehydrated, this face oil instantly brings me back to life.”
Our team is so grateful to Glamour for the shoutout. We’re glad they love the product as much as we
do—and we hope you will too.
In our view, 2023 was all about castor oil—and as the #1 Organic Castor Oil brand, with over 63,000 reviews (and counting) on Amazon, it’s no surprise we went viral on TikTok. This 100% pure and potent, single-ingredient super oil is a natural source of moisturizing fatty acids that hydrate the roots and scalp.
Fan-favorite influencers like Grandma Droniak (@grandma_droniak) and Darcy McQueeny (@darcymcqueenyyy) showed off their favorite ways to use this nourishing oil. Personally, we loved watching them on their castor journey, and we hope you did too!

In the U.S., over 134 million people work full-time. This means most employees log about 2,080 working hours each year.
Impressive, right? We also spend a lot of time running errands, caring for others, and completing household tasks.
That to-do list can add up fast. Yet recharging isn’t always so simple. And while scrolling on your phone or binge-watching your favorite TV show has its place, these aren’t the most effective ways to unwind.
Here’s something you can focus on instead: practicing self-care. You can achieve that soothing, tension-free state of being with some of the gifts you received this year.
You heard us. The right balms, oils, and butters will help you escape your daily stressors from the comfort of home. There’s real healing power in personal care, and we want to help take you there.
Whether you prefer taking a warm bath or curling up with a good book, Sky Organics supports you. Relaxation plays an important role in a person’s overall health. Lower stress and better sleep are just the beginning where our personal care products are concerned.
But how should you use your gifted items?
Meet the pure essential oil you’ve long been waiting for. Organic Lavender Oil offers serious soothing benefits, and it can be used in several different ways. To restore the calm in your life, consider adding a few drops to a diffuser and letting the aroma fill your space.
You can even include a few drops of lavender oil in warm bathwater and sit back while you soak away your stress. This essential oil will carry you through those trying moments—and bring you to a state of tranquility.
You’re in for a real treat if you were gifted our brand-new Organic Petroleum-Free Jelly this year. The sustainable, skin-friendly alternative to traditional petroleum jelly offers deep moisturizing properties. It can also be used as a relaxation tool.
Just apply a dab of our botanically-based balm to your feet. Then, put on socks for an overnight softening treatment. You can even apply the jelly to your lips, cuticles, elbows, and heels as a soothing nighttime ritual. What better way to unwind before you sleep?
These soaking salts are a classic gift. Known for its therapeutic benefits, 100% Pure Epsom Salt is the perfect addition to your relaxation routine. Create a soothing bath by dissolving two cups of Epsom salt in warm bathwater, and immerse yourself in the tub for 20 minutes.
You can benefit from Epsom salt in the shower too. Simply exfoliate the skin by mixing a handful of the product with shower gel or Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, and gently massaging.
The skin easily absorbs the magnesium found in Epsom salt, resulting in muscle relaxation and stress relief. And you don’t need to take a full-body bath or shower to enjoy it. Even a simple foot soak can be a great way to incorporate this must-have item into your self-care routine. Just mix one cup of Epsom salt in a small tub, and soak the feet for 10 minutes.
Is it any wonder our Organic Castor Oil has over 63,000 reviews on Amazon? A natural source of fatty acids that moisturize the roots and nourish the hair follicles, this is a product you’ll want to add to your personal care regimen ASAP.
Think of it like a trip to the spa. Massage castor oil into your dry scalp, and let it sit for an hour. Meditate while you wait, or sit down with a cup of warm tea, and then rinse with shampoo.
A reminder that castor oil doesn’t end with the hair. You can also apply a drop or two to your lash line and brows each night, or around the eyes before bed.
Navel oiling may help relieve stress as well. Just rub two or three drops of warm castor oil around the belly button, and see what the TikTok hype is all about. (Check out this video for a detailed review of the body detox practice.)
And finally, you can also massage castor oil over achy joints and sore muscles—or apply a castor pack.
Embark on a journey of self-care and make your holiday gifts a part of your family’s relaxation routine in 2024. We promise you won’t regret it. Perfect for home and travel, our pure and portable products are the best indulgence there is. (Don’t forget to browse our TSA-approved Organic Lip Balms and Butter Sticks if you haven’t already!)

I want the experience to be warm and personal, thoughtful and meaningful.
I also like to think of the most sustainable ways I can wrap the gift.
Here at Sky Organics, our sustainability journey hasn’t been a straight line. It has, however, evolved into something that makes me deeply proud. Though it’s founded in our products, our commitment to constantly improving our sustainability efforts also extends to our packaging.
For most people, conventional wrapping paper and tape are par for the course this time of year. The thing is, they create a fair amount of waste. That isn’t my favorite way to celebrate the holidays. With that, here are some environmentally-friendly gift wrapping methods you might consider instead.
You can make sustainable wraps from a variety of materials. Cotton, linen, and even repurposed scarves work well. The idea here is for your loved one to receive a beautifully-wrapped gift—plus an appealing wrap they can use for future gift-giving occasions
Originally from Japan, furoshiki is a traditional cloth that makes for truly elegant gifting. The idea here is to wrap items with fabric and then tie knots to secure the package. The fabric can be reused as needed, offering a zero-waste approach this holiday season.
This option is a classic, and with good reason. Lots of companies offer wrapping paper featuring post-consumer recycled paper to minimize their environmental impact. Selecting wrapping paper made from recycled materials is a simple yet worthwhile choice.
Reap the benefits of upcycling by using old newspapers or magazines. This approach will give any gift a unique look. More importantly, it’ll significantly reduce the paper waste we so often see around the holidays.
Invest in reusable gift bags made from durable materials like cloth or jute.
These bags can be used time and again, eliminating the need for single-use wrapping paper. Talk about a sustainable tradition for the whole family.
Picture a handful of Lip Balms and Butter Sticks from Sky Organics. Not only are these products fun and festive holiday gifts, but they also look great tucked in a Mason jar. Adorn your jar with cloth and ribbon for a sustainable look.
One of the best parts about sustainable holiday gift wrapping is that you can usually find the materials you need at the last minute. The environmental perks don’t hurt either—yet the gifts will still look nice and thoughtful.
One of the best parts about sustainable holiday gift wrapping is that you can usually find the materials you need at the last minute. The environmental perks don’t hurt either—yet the gifts will still look nice and thoughtful.
Almost half of our products come in sustainable glass bottles. Any bottles made from plastic are created from 100% recycled material.
Plus, our cartons are made with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified paper. (Paper is awarded this label when the FSC pledges it’s made from responsibly-sourced wood fiber. It’s a crucial standard in our industry.)
We even have personal care items in tubes made from sugarcane and compostable paper. Because Sky Organics doesn’t just talk sustainability—we try and live it. And while there’s still progress to be made, we pledge to keep working toward our environmental responsibility goals.
In the meantime, I hope you feel good buying your holiday gifts with us. I hope our focus on USDA Certified Organic ingredients brings you comfort, and that our commitment to sustainable packaging inspires you.
So please have a wonderful, sustainable holiday season. On behalf of the entire Sky Organics family, we hope to see you again in 2024. (Don’t forget to let us know what you think about the sustainable gift wrapping options in this post!)

The holidays offer different things for different people, and we’d be remiss not to acknowledge that. You may be focusing on travel, spending time with loved ones, or simply reflecting on the year. No matter your approach, we respect where you’re coming from, and we hope you celebrate in the exact way you want.
But let’s go back to gifting. Late November and early December are the perfect time to shop for friends family, and even treat ourselves.
So, plan to treat the people in your life this holiday season. (While you’re at it, treat yourself too!) Give them the gift of spa-like personal care, and consider the following Certified Organic beauty products and DIY ingredients.
Personal care enthusiasts, the holiday season has arrived. Whether you’re the type to obsess over the latest beauty trends or hold your favorite products close, we have something for you. These pure and simple beauty gifts will serve as amazing stocking stuffers—not to mention incredible ways to pamper yourself.
Butter Sticks are the ultimate holiday travel companions. Portable, effective, and TSA-approved, these giftable items offer quick and easy application. (And did we mention they’re super hydrating?) All you need to do is glide them over the skin to access the moisture you crave.
For optimal nourishment and softening, we recommend our Organic Ultra Moisture Coconut Oil and our Organic Shea Replenishing Butter sticks. These items are seamless, soothing, and easy to use for people of all ages.
To prevent dryness and cracking, infuse lip care into your routine over the holidays. Is there any better way to do that than with your favorite Organic Lip Balms? Made with beeswax and antioxidant-rich vitamin E, these giftable balms are bursting with vibrant flavors.
Share them with your loved ones, or send them to friends and colleagues. We just know giftees will adore the eucalyptus mint, tropical coconut, ripe strawberry, and fresh citrus varieties. (After all, what could be better than the nostalgia of summer this time of year?)
Winter can be harsh on the hair the same way it is on the skin. Enter Organic Castor Oil. Loaded with Omega fatty acids, this 100% pure, cold-pressed, hexane-free oil naturally nourishes and conditions dry strands. You’ll also notice its moisturizing power on the scalp and roots.
Talk about the gift for fuller-looking hair, lashes, and brows. Don’t forget to stock your cart with Organic Castor Oil Eyelash Serum too.
If you enjoy our moisturizing butter sticks, you’ll love the conditioning effects of our Raw & Unrefined Cocoa Butter. This 100% pure botanical butter offers deep hydration while locking in moisture. The highly giftable ingredient melts with the skin’s warmth and can be used in a number of DIY beauty recipes.
Speaking of gifting, your generosity doesn’t have to end with these products. You’ll also want to check out the ingredients in the DIY beauty recipe below.
Interested in reaping the benefits of your personal care haul this winter? The following beauty recipe is a calming, nourishing body oil that combats the effects of winter skin.
For a calming effect, you can also add a few drops of pure essential oil, like our Organic Lavender Oil. The soothing scent of lavender will get you right in the holiday spirit.
Gently mix the above ingredients in a bottle or jar. Patch test first before applying the moisturizing body oil to clean, dry skin.
What do you think? This DIY beauty recipe is designed to provide the nourishment and moisture the skin craves when it’s cold outside. You can source the ingredients straight from Sky Organics—and we invite you to share the results with us on social media.

Also known as America Recycles Day, this
nationally recognized holiday celebrates the benefits of recycling for human health, the environment, and the economy at large. It’s also an opportunity to explain why we recycle to kids who might not know just yet. So let’s kick off the conversation this fall. Let’s talk about the purpose of recycling, and what recycling looks like in the beauty industry today. From there, we’ll touch on what we’re doing to make it even better.
Society’s current system of producing materials, consuming products, and disposing of the leftovers is no longer sustainable.
This means that everyone from individual households to major companies should reevaluate their relationships with waste. By reducing waste—in terms of both products and packaging—and by reusing materials when possible, we can help protect the environment.
This will play a key role in conserving resources and safeguarding the planet for future generations. Lower greenhouse gas emissions, new jobs, and a healthier climate are just the beginning. And the circular economy plays an integral role in this.

Society’s current system of producing materials, consuming products, and disposing of the leftovers is no longer sustainable.
Though the term “circular economy” was coined in the 1960s, the concept didn’t gain real traction until the 2010s.
Where a traditional economy may be linear—a straight line—a circular economy is all about reuse.
So instead of manufacturing products and packaging that end up in landfills, companies that swear by the circular economy prioritize the reuse and recycling of goods. In the beauty industry, these brands generally create little to no waste, promote climate neutrality, and produce products with the least environmental impact possible.
This is critical, and brands need to do more than just pay lip service to the circular economy. Because while many organizations claim to be sustainable, far too few hold themselves accountable. In fact, the personal care industry generates about 120 billion units of waste each year —most of it plastic.
Now, plastic is a huge issue, but it isn’t the only one. Wasteful distribution, hazardous packaging, and dangerous formulations present further problems. The circular economy can help prevent some of these less than ideal practices from creeping up, but it isn’t as simple as just recycling.
Today I feel more optimistic about the beauty industry—in large part thanks to the circular economy. This approach closes the gap from production to recycling, ensuring companies take full advantage of their products’ resources (right down to the packaging).
Rather than discarding waste at every turn, and expecting everything to end up in a landfill, a circular approach forces us to use resources more carefully. It also encourages us to put those same resources—ingredients, packaging, you name it—right back into the production cycle.
Products in the circular economy should have clear refill potential, easy to follow recycling instructions and a reuse system in place for packaging. There’s a shift away from the expectation to just throw the product away when you’re done.
Upcycling turns production waste into new materials or products entirely. For example, a company might use discarded lemon or orange peel to create a natural citrusy fragrance. This is a form of upcycling.
With that commitment comes accountability. At Sky Organics, our partnership with Pact Collective puts recycling at the forefront of our mission. Pact, in addition to creating a recycling option for those hard-to-recycle components that are not accepted in curbside recycling programs, is sharing the facts on packaging use, material claims, and more—even when the truth hurts.
And to make recycling more straightforward for our consumers, Sky Organics will cover the collection and recycling costs of the empties you send to Pact. All you need to do is cover the $5 shipping expense. But here’s the kicker: as a token of our gratitude, we’ll give you a $5 discount code for your next purchase!
Learn more about this process (and Pact’s recycling guidelines) here.
And in the meantime, please have a happy America Recycles Day.

Halloween is right around the corner.
It’s an awesome holiday, and I appreciate that my daughter is in on the fun this year.
Granted, she’s still a toddler, but she’ll get to dress up and fully experience October 31.
You too may be spending the next few weeks carving jack-o-lanterns, finalizing your costume, and digging up those spooky decorations.
But “spooky” doesn’t always translate. For instance, it should be the last thing you expect from your favorite personal care brands.
Maybe you’re buying makeup or face paint for Halloween.
The label may say your cosmetics are “all-natural,” but wait—you’ll want to do your due diligence before checkout.
We mentioned previously that if a product isn’t certified to a natural standard, then you can’t inherently trust it. This brings us to some of the creepy practices we’re seeing in our industry today.
• Greenwashing
Is it any wonder that 88% of Gen Z doesn’t trust brands’ ecofriendly claims?
Again, words like “clean” and “natural” don’t mean much without the certifications to back them up—and deliberate vagueness is a clear sign of greenwashing. If you don’t see a third-party agency confirming that a brand’s products are certifiably better, it’s likely they just aren’t.
• Packaging Waste
Many personal care brands take pride in their aesthetic packaging. And while the unboxing experience reigns supreme on social media, it isn’t always ideal for the environment. Far too many companies prioritize convenience over recyclability, and they may include more packaging than necessary.
• Animal Cruelty
It’s devastating that 500,000 animals worldwide suffer due to cosmetic testing each year. Animal cruelty is real, and this terrible practice has to end. While 10 U.S. states have banned the sale of animal-tested cosmetics, it’s still best to work with brands that are Certified Cruelty-Free .
• Carbon Production
From manufacturing to shipping, many brands’ carbon emissions add up. Now, some of those emissions are inevitable—but I think more companies should work to offset them. There are so many claims floating around, and brands need to be transparent about the work they’re doing
When Sky Organics first launched in 2015, our co-founder (my brother Steven) and his wife Sara Jade were new parents. Naturally, they wanted to do right by their kids. But Sara Jade’s search for clean personal care options left a lot to be desired.
She was frustrated by brands’ confusing “natural” claims and complicated ingredient lists. It didn’t take long before she learned that Certified Organic products were less processed and genuinely sustainable. Today Sky Organics is a Certified B Corp , which reflects our effort to create the items Sara Jade only wished she had in 2015. Our cotton products are certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and we also follow the NSF/ANSI 305 marketing standard.
And for products where organic certification isn’t possible, like mineral powders and salts? We are still committed to using pure and potent ingredients sourced from nature.
That’s not all. Sky Organics is committed to moving away from the spooky practices that plague our industry. In addition to our certifications, here are some of the ways we try to make a difference:
• Sustainable Packaging
We’re always looking for ways to improve our packaging. Almost half of our products are sold in glass bottles, and our plastic bottles and jars are made from 100% post-consumer recycled material and are recyclable. Much of our packaging is also made from sugarcane and compostable paper. And our partnership with Pact makes it easy to recycle packaging like pumps and dropper.
• Cruelty-Free
Sky Organics values the life of all living beings and will never test products on animals. Our ingredient suppliers share the same commitment to protect the creatures we so love—and our certification through the Leaping Bunny Program is evidence of this.
• Climate-Forward
It’s no secret that we want to offset our carbon footprint. This is where our partnership with Ecologi comes in. They’ve helped us plant over 15,000 trees to date—and create jobs in the process. Today we proudly plant one tree for every order we receive on our website (and for every email signup).
Because if one thing is certain, it’s that the world is a little spooky right now. It is almost Halloween. Yet I want my children—and their children, and your children—to grow up spook-free. And I’m hopeful that the personal care industry will keep moving in the right direction.

]]>One in four Americans cite this horrific terrific holiday as their very favorite.
Just close your eyes and picture it: the eerie calm of mist, the scent of golden-leaved trees, and the gentle sound as those same leaves crunch under your feet. You may be gearing up for Halloween by picking pumpkins, sipping mulled cider, or exploring your costume options.
How else are you going to shapeshift into a believable ghost or witch or vampire? (Or maybe you’re going as Weird Barbie, the eclectic, David Bowie-inspired doll from 2023’s highest-grossing movie.)
But with a good costume comes the need for face paint, fake blood, and other cosmetics. This means we’re also going to recommend a natural, pure and potent makeup remover that you can create yourself.
So you, your friends, and family are going all out this Halloween. How’s that for a Tuesday night?
Here’s the thing, though. You may be exhausted by the end of the evening. You may choose to fall asleep in your costume—makeup still on—and just sleep the holiday off.
If you have kids, they too may be begging to keep their colorful cosmetics on for the night. (It isn’t every day they get their entire face painted like a cat or superhero.)
However, sleeping in makeup just isn’t ideal. It can cause issues and annoyances at any age. And besides, having makeup, paint, and glitter all over your body will totally wreck your sheets.
Here are some of the reasons it’s important to remove your makeup on Halloween (and frankly every day):
• Unclog the Pores
At night, makeup blends with your skin’s natural oils. Using makeup remover can unclog the pores and
keep residue off of your pillow.
• Moisturize the Skin
Keeping heavy makeup on overnight can disrupt and dry out your skin. Plan to wipe it off and add a little
moisture to your skin.
• Protect the Eyes
The wrong makeup can irritate the eyes at any time, but even the good stuff can cause problems while
you’re sleeping. This is where makeup remover comes in.
Now let’s talk about our go-to DIY makeup remover. We may be biased, but we think you’ll love it.
Curious about a natural option for removing your makeup this Halloween?
For the best results, we recommend using a blend of Fractionated Coconut Oil and Organic Rosewater Facial Mist.
Fractionated Coconut Oil is uniquely textured, lightweight, and lightly moisturizing—meaning it will help melt away makeup without clogging the pores or leaving a greasy residue. As an added benefit, after just one application of this nourishing product, 94% of people reported softer skin, and 92% shared that their skin felt more hydrated.*
Rosewater, meanwhile, is designed to balance excess oils. So while it will help the makeup slide off skin, it is also known for its softening, refreshing effects. USDA certified organic and 100% pure and steam-distilled, the subtle rose petal scent is entirely natural.
In combination, these two ingredients create a special DIY makeup remover that easily removes makeup for all skin types. Here’s what you’ll need to make your own this Halloween.
Ingredients
• 1 oz. Fractionated Coconut Oil
• 1 oz. Organic Rosewater Facial Mist
• Organic Cotton Rounds or Organic Cotton Balls
• 1 Bottle or Jar (for blending)
Instructions
Start by mixing the Fractionated Coconut Oil and Organic
Rosewater Facial Mist in a bottle or jar. Shake well. Then, using an
organic cotton round or cotton ball, gently apply the makeup
remover to your face.
Patch test your DIY makeup remover before use. If needed, use a clean, dry cloth to remove any additional Halloween makeup.
Simple, right? Your Halloween costume may be complex this year, but your makeup remover shouldn’t have to be. Sky Organics is committed to expanding our use of organic ingredients, and we’re proud to maintain organic certification whenever possible.
(For products with material limitations like those made with minerals, clays, and salts, we still use pure and potent ingredients sourced from nature. Transparency truly means the world to us.)
Because on Halloween, you never know what lies in the shadows. And at Sky Organics, we put our ingredients right where you can see them. Your skin will thank you when you use our natural and pure DIY makeup remover recipe. We’re pretty sure you’ll want to keep it on hand all year round.

]]>The reason for this is simple. Pretty much everyone takes a break in the summer.
You may have prioritized leisure or travel, and simply not had the energy to reassess those warm-weather staples.
But times are changing—so are the seasons. The days are cooling, restaurants and coffee shops are unveiling their fall menus, and our skin is begging us for something new.
As you embrace all the things you love about September, you may be craving something more. Think thicker, richer products. And your instincts are perfectly natural, especially as you get back in the swing of your routine.
With that, let’s work together and transition your skincare regimen to fall.
The human body is sensitive. It can recognize even the slightest shifts in humidity or temperature.
The skin is no different.
Just think about it. You probably spent June through August in a state of heat, moisture, and sun exposure. Indoors, we’re guessing you got pretty comfortable close to the AC—eager for a break.
Then there’s fall. Known for chillier conditions, windier days, and plummeting humidity, our guess is that you’ll be turning off the AC and ramping up the heat in no time.
Talk about a lot of change. It’s no wonder that fall brings a whole new set of skincare needs. So the same way you may reach for a sweater when the temps dip, you’ll need to give your skin some extra TLC these next few months. The reason for this is that, as the air gets cooler or drier, the skin becomes drier too.
This makes thicker, moisturizing products essential. The idea here is to protect the skin’s lipid barrier and prevent cool-climate issues like breakouts, dullness, and flakiness.
Is your skin ready for fall? Our Certified B-Corp is here to help with these essential certified organic skincare product recommendations.
• Cocoa Butter
Butters are moisturizing. And while most of us give them a rest in the summer, fall is the perfect time to pick them back up. Our Raw & Unrefined Cocoa Butter deeply hydrates and conditions extra-dry skin, while promoting a smooth tone. It’s 100% pure, raw cocoa butter. This means that it retains its natural aroma and it’s solid texture. So keep in mind you’ll need to soften this nourishing butter up in your hand before you can apply the nourishment your skin has been craving.
• Shea Butter
Replenish the skin with Organic Shea Butter. Raw and unrefined like its Cocoa Butter cousin, this item is the perfect way to soothe and soften dry skin. Also like its cousin, this indulgent butter also retains its solid texture until it heats up alongside your body. For the best results, warm it in your hands. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, use it in a DIY beauty recipe.
• Butter Sticks
Who said you have to compromise on soft skin? Our Organic Ultra Moisture Coconut Oil, Cocoa Conditioning, and Shea Replenishing Butter Sticks offer the very best of the original butters our customers love. Now available in stick form, we created this line to make application a little bit easier and also a little bit more portable.
That’s right—these butters easily glide right onto your skin and can be tucked away in your handbag, gym bag, or backpack. And did we mention that they come in a completely plastic-free tube? How’s that for sustainable moisture?
• Organic Coconut Oil & Vitamin E
This fall is all about ultra-moisturizing personal care—and our Organic Coconut Oil & Vitamin E delivers. The Organic Coconut Oil is full of nourishing fatty acids, while the glow-boosting Vitamin E supports compromised skin and hair. What better way to achieve the antioxidant-rich hydration you’ve been craving?
Every product on this list is perfect for the cool weather. A reminder that Sky Organics uses Certified Organic ingredients whenever we can, we’re a Certified B Corporation and that we never test our products on animals.
So let us guide you through your fall skincare regimen. We also want you to join us as we celebrate National Organic Month this September. In the name of certifiably-better beauty, we’re planting 5 trees for every order placed on our website, and for every email or SMS signup, all month long!

]]>She’s a year and a half, and she doesn’t know what it means just yet. But I do—and in the coming years, she will too. In the interim, I want to do my part to leave the world a better place.
Now, I’m no farmer. I am Chief Sustainability Officer at a beauty brand, though. And from our packaging to the way we take care of our people, I want to set an example for other companies to follow. I also want to show my daughter’s generation that there’s a better way to care for our planet.
Times are changing. Slowly but surely, people are gaining awareness. I’m hopeful my daughter will grow up closer to the Earth than my generation did, from the toys she plays with to the food she eats. I want the same thing for her kids too. And I realize that organic farming and other climate-sensitive practices will play an important role in achieving this.
This is why National Organic Month is so important to me.
And now I’d like to talk about why it matters to Sky Organics.
Sky Organics is celebrating National Organic Month by doubling down on our commitment to reforestation.
Throughout September, we will plant 5 trees for every order placed on our website, and for every email and SMS signup we receive.
This wouldn’t be possible without our partner Ecologi. They do remarkable work and have helped us fund the planting of over 12,200 trees to date. You can learn more about our partnership here.
Ecologi focuses on organic farming and reforestation all over the world. It’s thrilling to see organic agriculture creating jobs and boosting economies—and the impact is greater than ever. In the U.S. alone, there are over 28,000 Certified Organic farms and businesses today. Higher-quality water, energy conservation, and better soil health are just some of the benefits organic farming brings.
Sky Organics uses Certified Organic ingredients whenever possible. While some brands use the word “natural” on their items, we have the USDA seal to back our claims up. It’s the real deal when third-party agencies agree a company’s products are certifiably better.
Because what organic means for consumers is quality assurance. We’ve all seen businesses fairy-dust products with a certified organic ingredient or two—yet we use these ingredients whenever we can. Our B Corp Certification is further proof of our commitment to doing right by the planet.
That’s not all. All three of the following standards factor into our approach:
• USDA Organic
There’s organic, and then there’s USDA Certified Organic. USDA-certified organic ingredients are grown and processed with specific parameters around soil and weed control. The use of additives is strictly prohibited, and organic producers use natural substances as much as they can.
To hold people accountable, the USDA conducts annual onsite inspections.
• NSF ANSI 305
NSF/ANSI 305 is the only American National Standard to issue labeling and marketing requirements for personal care products that contain organic ingredients.
In other words, if a brand claims something is “made with organic ingredients,” that product must contain at least 70% certified organic ingredients by weight. And the (up to) 30% that’s not organic? It’s made up of a carefully vetted list of ingredients that make the formula work, are deemed safe and sustainable, and are unavailable in organic form. For Sky Organics, these ingredients are often added vitamins or natural mineral ingredients that cannot be sourced organically.
• GOTS
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) lists worldwide requirements for organic textiles. It encompasses everything from the harvesting of raw materials, to socially and environmentally responsible manufacturing and labelling practices. Our organic cotton products are certified to this standard.
Sky Organics is proud to follow all three of these standards. We’re honored to see our sustainability commitment in action, and we’re very happy to celebrate National Organic Month this September with you.
With that, I’d like to dedicate this post to the organic farmers who are working so hard to make the world a better place.
I think I’ll dedicate it to my daughter too. Someday she’ll be the one teaching me about the planet

]]>The right sprays, oils, and balms can make a real difference for your family.
But it can be tough to find products that work for everyone. You may have come across something great, only for your kids to scoff at it. Or, maybe your child found something fun and fruity—but the product’s ingredient list leaves a lot to be desired.
For many families, prioritizing Certified Organic ingredients is a real challenge. The late summer makes things even more difficult. The heat lingers, and the mosquitoes are still on the prowl—yet back-to-school is right around the corner. You may feel the need to stock up for fall. At the same time, you probably want to enjoy what’s left of the season.
This is where Sky Organics comes in. We’re here to help you navigate the plethora of personal care products available today.
Get ready for the end of summer with a series of handpicked items you won’t want to miss. That’s right—we’ve compiled a list of our favorite personal care products for consumers of all ages.
• Organic Bug Spray
You and your little ones need gentle, effective options. DEET-free and alcohol-free, our Organic Bug Spray will keep pesky insects at bay until the cool weather takes over. The spray features a powerful blend of citronella, lemongrass, and six other organic oils (including cedarwood, rosemary, and peppermint). It’s suitable for all skin types and just perfect for families.
• Organic Lip Balms
As the warm, dry climate continues, we encourage you to seal in moisture with our Organic Lip Balms. These family-friendly favorites are bursting with all-natural flavors. Not only that, but they’re also made with nourishing organic plant oils and beeswax that will keep your lips feeling soft and smooth for hours. Your kids will love our tropical coconut, ripe strawberry, fresh citrus, and eucalyptus mint varieties.
• Organic Morning Dew Oil Serum
Radiance and antioxidant support are just the beginning of this lightweight skincare item. Our new Organic Morning Dew Oil Serum prepares skin for the day by creating a smooth, hydrated canvas. The priming oil serum comes in a lovely prickly pear and camellia oil blend that helps the skin stay fresh with or without makeup.
• Fractionated Coconut Oil
Talk about personal care for all ages. This hydrating dry oil is ideal for moisture, massage, and makeup removal. But those aren’t the only reasons to use Fractionated Coconut Oil. The uniquely textured product is hydrating and absorbent in equal measure—meaning it won’t clog the pores or leave a greasy residue on the skin. Personally, we consider it the key to face and body hydration.
And the research is in to back it up. After just one application, 94% of users reported their skin seemed soft. After a full week, 97% of people said their skin felt smoother and more hydrated.* This is a great option for kids after the bath.
• Vitamin E Oil
Dealing with the aftermath of a scorching summer day? This all-purpose oil will help you combat dry conditions in changing environments. It’s versatile, great for grownups and kids, and full of nourishing organic plant oils. You heard it here—our Vitamin E Oil contains 30,000 IUs of antioxidant Vitamin E. And the result is noticeable softness. Apply 1-3 pumps to clean skin, or blend with your favorite product.
We mean it when we say the benefits are massive. After just four weeks of use, 87% of people reported soothing effects and healthier-looking skin. And 89% of people confirmed that this oil helped relieve dryness.*
• Organic Split End Bonding Oil
Summer weather and split ends go hand in hand. Swimming and sun exposure make it tough to give your hair the TLC it needs—and your family’s strands may suffer as a result. This is where our brand-new Organic Split End Bonding Oil can help. Made with lightweight botanical oils, the product restores a sleek finish to the hair. You’ll love how well it nourishes and smooths dull, rough ends. Just rub a few drops together in your palms and smooth over the ends of straggly strands. Cheers to another product the whole family can enjoy!
• Organic Rosemary Strong Roots Oil
Where to start with rosemary? The herbaceous fragrance is soothing, and the super-ingredient appeals to most people. That’s not all, though. Our new Organic Rosemary Strong Roots Oil supports the scalp and promotes fuller-looking hair. This is why we recommend using this amazing product as a pre-shampoo treatment—there’s truly no better way to acknowledge that healthy hair starts at the roots.
This oil is especially beneficial for new moms combatting postpartum hair loss or thinning.
• Vitamin C Bright Glow Oil Serum
Want to feel fresh and radiant after a hot August day? Get Mom and Dad together, and gather around this unique blend of antioxidant-rich plant oils and skin-brightening Vitamin C. Our new Organic Bright Glow Oil Serum will restore the fresh, dewy complexion your kids have naturally. We promise you’ll love the comfortable feel and healthy-looking glow it brings. Simply apply 2-3 drops to the face, neck, and décolletage.

]]>That means the Sky Organics family will be celebrating on August 6 this year, along with our partners at Ecologi—and we want our tree-loving community to join us.
For us, National Tree Day is about more than paying lip service to the perennial plants we so appreciate. Today I want to share with you how trees can help not only the environment, but the communities we serve.
Some of these benefits might surprise you. So stay tuned as we discuss the power of trees and shed light on our favorite August holiday.
We mean it when we say that we love trees. Towering conifers, lush palms, and stunning winter birch are more than just beautiful. They can make a real impact on many facets of our existence.
For example, trees create natural barriers against storms—especially on our coasts. They purify air and water sources, stabilizing soil as a result. This in turn improves drainage and prevents erosion.
And consider these other benefits too:
• Trees promote biodiversity.
Biodiversity refers to the different kinds of life we see on Earth, including plants, animals, and even the smallest microorganisms.
Basically, biodiversity is everywhere we look. From our public lands to our city parks, healthy forests play a key role in maintaining many of the world’s biodiverse ecosystems. For instance, trees support wildlife and protect waterways—promoting a sense of balance.
They work with other natural elements to create clean drinking water and provide shelter from extreme weather, which helps animals and people and allows both flora and fauna to flourish.
• Trees help underserved communities.
Everyone loves having trees in their neighborhood. They create healthier, safer, cleaner communities. They slow flooding, offer shade, and keep people cool in the hot summer months.
Trees also make living environments more comfortable. Research shows that neighborhoods lacking in trees—many of them in inner cities—are about 10 degrees warmer than nearby areas with ample tree cover. This means green spaces and outdoor shade in general can help prevent heat-related illnesses.
Oh, and did I mention that trees have been found to decrease stress, improving kids’ development, and promoting physical exercise?
• Trees slow the effects of climate change.
Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges we face today and trees can help combat this problem because they are a proven way to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
In just one year, a mature tree will absorb more than 48 pounds of carbon dioxide—and release oxygen instead! This same research shows that 1.3 million trees are estimated to remove over 2,500 tons of pollutants from the air each year.
At Sky Organics, we embrace the philosophy that every tree planted can make a small difference. Our goal is to boost the power of trees not just on National Tree Day, but all the time. This is why last year we embarked on a partnership with Ecologi, a social enterprise that plants trees mostly in underserved communities.
As Chief Sustainability Officer at Sky Organics, sustainability is what I focus on day in and day out—and what I encourage my team to do right along with me.
Our brand uses Certified Organic ingredients whenever possible. Not only that, but we recently became a Certified B-Corporation™. This certification is proof that we can back up our commitment to the environment with tangible, actionable measures.
One of those measures involves the work we do alongside Ecologi. Through this partnership, we plant a tree for every product order placed on our website—and every time someone signs up for our email or SMS list.
In a little over 10 months, I’m thrilled to share that Sky Organics has funded 11,577 trees through our partnership with Ecologi!
We are proud of this collaboration with Ecologi and the added benefits it brings.
There’s so much to love about Ecologi. Something we genuinely appreciate about the organization is how it helps to create jobs with fair, transparent labor practices—jobs that don’t end once the trees are planted. These same workers who plant the trees are later tasked with caring for and harvesting their bounty.
You heard me right: bounty! Some of the trees Ecologi plants are fruit varieties, including avocado, papaya, and lemon.
I was personally inspired by the story of Beatrice, who is just one of the many people earning a living with Ecologi. A nursery worker at Nkoben, she provides seedlings to the Eden reforestation site in Kenya’s Mau region. The seven-year project is entirely funded by Ecologi—and Beatrice’s employment has allowed her to cover the costs of school fees, food, and clothing.
Ecologi brings stable employment opportunities—and climate protection—to communities on five continents. All the organization’s projects support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, which include reducing poverty and boosting socioeconomic growth. Throughout, due diligence field visits and satellite monitoring hold everyone accountable.
Truly, what a way to celebrate National Tree Day. Please join us in acknowledging the good, hard work Ecologi is doing for communities around the world.

Hair isn’t exempt from this either. It’s common for our luscious locks to become dry or even brittle with exposure to the summer sun, saltwater, and chemically-treated pools.
]]>Hair isn’t exempt from this either. It’s common for our luscious locks to become dry or even brittle with exposure to the summer sun, saltwater, and chemically-treated pools.
This is where the following tips come in. They’ll help you keep your mane healthy and hydrated all summer long.
Summer is the season to let your hair down, so to speak. These are the months to embrace your natural texture and go with the so-called flow
You’ll want to proceed with caution, though. This is because warm temperatures and powerful UV rays can damage the outermost layer of the hair. Known as the cuticle, this outer layer tends to get rough in the summer heat—eventually swelling and attracting humidity.
Frizzy hair is the less-than-desirable result. Consequently, your hair may become dry or prone to split-ends. Meanwhile, high moisture levels and sweat may cause your hair to feel flat in the summer heat.
And the trouble doesn’t end there. Don’t even get us started on saltwater and chlorine! A dip in the pool may strip your hair of its natural oils, while a swim in seawater can pull moisture from your locks and leave the hair looking parched.
It’s important to be aware of the risks hot weather can bring to the hair. Yet you can still spend plenty of quality time outside without damaging your strands.
So enjoy yourself the next time you hit the beach or pool, and follow these crucial summer haircare tips
• Bring a hat.
Too much sun exposure can make your hair lackluster. To protect your scalp from sun damage, wear a wide-brimmed hat or cap. Wrapping your hair in a silk scarf is always an option too.
• Gently apply sunscreen.
To make sure you’re safe on all fronts, run your hands slowly through your hair right after applying sunscreen. Avoid shampoos with UV protection, which tend to include toxic ingredients.
• Use hair ties.
Wearing your hair in a bun or ponytail will limit sun exposure. Not only that, but hair ties can also reduce the amount you sweat. The idea here is to protect your hair from the flat, dull look perspiration can bring
• Drink plenty of water.
Dehydration affects the whole body—right down to the strands of your hair. To prevent your locks from drying out, drink lots of water each day. This will keep your hair hydrated and glowing.
• Condition, condition, condition.
Cut back on summer shampoos in order to keep your hair smooth and moisturized. Then, focus on conditioner to lock in even more hydration. Note that ingredients like Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil include deep nourishing, conditioning effects.
• Skip the blow dryer.
You may be tempted to use them, but try to go easy on heat styling tools when it’s hot outside. In summer weather, blow dryers, straighteners, and curling irons can amplify any damage to the hair
By making these tips a part of your routine, you’ll be able to improve your hair health and focus on the beauty of the season. Now let’s discuss some haircare products to consider
It’s no secret that the products we use matter. To give your hair the healing power it deserves this summer, treat your hair to the deep conditioning power of one or more of these products.
• For deep nourishment
When used as a pre-shampoo hair mask, our Organic Castor Oil supports strong, full hair. Loaded with natural fatty acids, the cold-pressed oil is designed to nurture the scalp, roots, and strands
• For cleansing moisture
Purifying hydration is at the core of our Organic Essential Scalp Elixir: a soothing blend of organic castor, amla, and carrot root oils provide deep moisture when used prior to cleansing.
• For antioxidant-rich replenishment
You won’t want to miss our Organic Coconut Oil & Vitamin E. The ultra-hydrating oil is full of healing antioxidants and powerful fatty acids that can help to soften the hair when used as an overnight hair mask
• For smooth, silky hair
There’s no going wrong with our Organic Argan Oil. In addition to taming frizz, a few drops of this daily leave-in Moroccan hair oil will give your hair a glossy shine.
An added benefit of these products is that each one is made from the purest ingredients. Backed by our Certified B-Corp, they’re produced with sustainability in mind. Add them to your summer haircare routine for incredible results.

]]>But what does “clean beauty” really mean? And how can we make sure we’re actually prioritizing clean beauty, and not just getting caught up in well-intentioned greenwashing? This post will provide a deep-dive on exactly that.
As Chief Sustainability Officer at Sky Organics, I know firsthand why National Clean Beauty Day matters. Though the inaugural celebration took place in 2020, the concept of clean beauty has been around for decades.
The idea behind clean beauty is transparency and good health—both personally and environmentally. Brands like Sky Organics have set out to create safe, pure, sustainably-packaged personal care items. We prioritize ethical sourcing and our customers’ health in the name of what we do.
The ingredients we use are Certified Organic whenever possible, and each one has a unique purpose. Not only that, but our recipes are simple, with the ingredients included at a functional level to deliver the beauty benefits we promise. You'll never see parabens, sulfates, or phtalates on our labels. Beyond that, all of products are backed by a longstanding commitment to our workers, customers, and the environment.
In my opinion, the fact that we've been recognized for our efforts proves we must be doing something right. Our goal is to only make claims that we can back up. Yet generally speaking, the term “clean beauty” is still unregulated in our industry. In many cases, it’s a sign of greenwashing.
Many companies, either intentionally or unintentionally, commit greenwashing. They may disclose that their products are “environmentally-friendly,” “natural,” or “healthy” without any evidence behind these claims. Or they may do what is commonly known as “fairy dusting” their ingredients. This involves the use of natural or organic botanicals at less than 0.01% of the formula, and then boldly making claims about those ingredients on their labels.
It makes sense, in this way, that greenwashing damages consumer trust. It makes people skeptical about their favorite brands’ sustainability practices. Greenwashing is ultimately a misleading marketing practice that goes against what National Clean Beauty Day is all about.
So on July 15, we encourage you to take a closer look at your favorite beauty brands. Plan to audit these personal care companies for the following:
• Certification programs that assess the company's sustainability performance
• Detailed product and packaging standards and full ingredient transparency
• Quantifiable environmental impacts and sustainability initiatives
The truth is that when a product is certified to a natural standard, it eliminates the possibility of greenwashing. in these cases, independant third parties come in to verify the status of the brand or product—so companies can’t make false claims about their so-called “good” practices. Even if they tried to greenwash their loyal consumers, the certification body would call their bluff.
On National Clean Beauty Day this year, I challenge you to make changes to your beauty routine. I want you to confirm your skin and haircare products are free from toxins, and that every ingredient is safe for human health and the environment.
Here are just some of the ways you can join the cause:
Sky Organics is committed to using pure and potent ingredients. We only source ingredients with a clear purpose, and we describe the benefits of every ingredient in detail on our labels and website. You too can prioritize functional beauty when choosing new products.
At Sky Organics, we see the value in all living things. Many companies pledge not to test their products on animals yet have no accountability. We are Certified Cruelty-Free throught the international Leaping Bunny Program. This certification requires an audit of our practices and the practices of our suppliers to confirm our products and ingredients are not tested on animals. Our cruelty-free claims are verified.
We pursue USDA Organic Certification whenever we can. Some of our products are also certified to the NSF/ANSI 305 Personal Care Standard and the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). No matter the circumstances, we use pure ingredients sourced from nature.
Our commitment to organic ingredients is longstanding. Prioritizing Certified Organic means we don't need a long "free from" list on our labels. Il also means that our ingredients have their natural integrity and potency, and that they-re processed without chemicals or pesticides. This is truly better for everyone.
With that, I'd like to thank you for celebrating with us this National Clean Beauty Day. Whether you start choosing brands more carefully-based on proven, certifiable metrics-or paying closer attention to misleading product labels, every change can make a difference.

]]>In the spring of 2023, we are humbled to share that it’s become a reality
]]>In the spring of 2023, we are humbled to share that it’s become a reality.
You heard us: Sky Organics is officially a Certified B Corp! This post will describe what it means to be a part of this community. We so appreciate the certification and look forward to sharing our experience with you.
Certified B Corporations are part of a movement to change the global economy (for the better, of course). The goal is to create an equitable, inclusive, regenerative economic system.
But what does that really mean?
In essence, B Corps are part of an international community of businesses overseen by a nonprofit network called B Lab. These for-profit companies meet high standards of social and environmental impact—acting with intention and continually striving to do better.
That improvement aspect is key. No company is perfect, and there is always room for growth. To that end, an important part of being a Certified B Corp is holding each other accountable. Certified B Corporations are where continuous improvement and collective action come together.
B Corp Certification means a company has been vetted. It means the brand meets B Lab’s social and environmental impact standards.
Becoming B Corp Certified also means an organization is legally committed to stakeholder governance and transparent about its performance.
Sky Organics is just thrilled for the opportunity to take collective action through this certification. To be approved and join this exciting community, our company:
• Achieved a score above 80 on B Lab’s Impact Assessment. This assessment evaluates social and environmental performance.
• Pledged to be accountable to all stakeholders (and not just shareholders). We did this by ensuring our corporate governance structure considers the interests of everyone in our organization—right down to our team members and the environment.
• Gave B Lab permission to list our performance on a public B Corp profile. (Please stay tuned and keep holding us accountable!)
To maintain Certified B Corp status, Sky Organics will need to apply for recertification every three years. For now, it’s a true honor to be a part of this community.
I’ll share that while we’re grateful to have joined this global community, we didn’t become a B Corp overnight. As a company, Sky Organics has done a lot of self-evaluation in our effort to do our very best.
Here are the five impact areas brands must focus on to become B Corp Certified:
Certified B Corporations need to take care of their workers. They have to improve their employees’ lives and contribute to their well-being. At Sky Organics, we wouldn’t be where we are today without our team members, and we do what we can to reflect that.
B Corps prioritize and care for the planet. While Sky Organics has been sustainable for many years with roughly 80% of our products being certified to an organic standard, we wanted to up the ante. More recently, we’ve been focusing on environmentally-conscious packaging and planting trees with every purchase from our website.
You can read more about our Sustainability Commitment here. Note that we update our performance every year and post it on our website so that our customers and stakeholders can check in and see how we’re doing.
No doubt a company’s governance needs to consider all stakeholders. This includes not just the people at the very “top,” but everyone involved in business operations. (Think customers, workers of all experience levels, and various communities.)
Certified B Corporations need to do more than pay lip service to those they serve. These companies must have a real, tangible impact on customers’ lives. Sky Organics has prioritized this by being open about our business practices and the ingredients in our products.
Finally, B Corp Certified businesses need to give back. Our partnership with Ecologi has helped us further our environmental impact—complete with a focus on reforestation. In partnership with our customers, we’ve already funded the planting of over 10,000 trees. Not only that, but we are just thrilled to join a community of likeminded brands who share similar values.
While sustainability has long been a part of who we are, becoming a B Corp is how we’re expressing it to the world. We are thankful for B Lab, our customers, and our peers for helping us work toward this certification.

]]>Welcome to the next generation of pure and simple products. That’s right—Sky Organics has a completely new look and feel, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Consider the following updates we’ve made over the last year:
Elevated Packaging
First, we wanted to refresh our look and reinforce our brand mission. Our new packaging design offers more ingredient transparency, clearly defines each ingredient’s purpose, and makes it easy to find post-use recycling instructions using a QR code on every label.
Cruelty-Free Commitment
As of last year, Sky Organics became Leaping Bunny Certified. Now our labels proudly display the Leaping Bunny cruelty-free logo. If you aren’t familiar with the program, Leaping Bunny is the premier, internationally-recognized program that connects conscious consumers with brands that prioritize animal protection.
Website Updates
From Most-Loved Products to New Arrivals, our updated website takes natural self-care to new heights. We’ve overhauled the entire browsing experience to deliver on our goal of making it easier for you to find the perfect products for your specific skin and hair needs.
Spotlight on Sustainability Sustainability isn’t a buzzword for us—it’s something Sky Organics is deeply committed to as a brand. With that, we’re doubling down on sustainability by helping green consumers like you shop and live your values each and every day.
Many brands pay lip service to being “Earth-friendly,” but it isn’t a major focus of their daily operations. At Sky Organics, we are committed to doing better than that. We strive to continually expand our use of Certified Organic ingredients, because we believe organic is the highest form of natural. Our team is also intent on raising our sustainability commitment.
A little over a year ago, I transitioned from being Sky Organics’ Chief Strategy Office and took up the post of Chief Sustainability Officer so that I can focus on sustainability every day. I am leading the charge to move toward a better planet and future. Here are some of the things Sky Organics is doing to achieve this:
Greening Our Packaging
By 2026, our goal is to decrease our use of virgin plastics by 75%. We’ve started this process by transitioning to plastic bottles and jars made with 100% recycled materials. And now all of our paper packaging, such as unit cartons, is FSC Certified. This ensures the forests are managed to strict environmental, social, and economic standards.
Making Recycling Easy
It’s not enough that we use recycled and sustainable materials in our packaging. We want to help our customers continue the lifecycle of our components, and we know that’s not always easy. We have partnered with How2Recycle to develop step-by-step recycling instructions for every product that we sell, and that information is easily accessible via a QR code on each product’s label.
And for those components that curbside recycling programs might not accept, like pumps and sprayers, we’re excited to announce Sky Organics’ partnership with Pact Collective. Through our website, we make it easy to send those hard-to-recycle components to Pact so they can disassemble and recycle them properly.
Planting Trees
We’re thrilled to share an update on our partnership with Ecologi. Known for delivering impactful climate solutions through reforestation, Ecologi is continuing to help Sky Organics, in partnership with our customers, make a difference. Our commitment is to plant one tree for every order on our website—plus one tree for every person who subscribes to our newsletter. As a result, we have already planted over 10,000 trees since our partnership began last September!
Each of these efforts brings us one step closer to our ultimate goal: By 2030, we plan to be a carbon neutral company! Plus we have another big sustainability announcement coming very soon, so watch out for that!

]]>A beauty detox is all about removing toxic ingredients from your routine. It may involve getting rid of products that are past their expiration date. In many cases, a beauty detox is a chance to reconsider the ingredients you’re using. (We’ll discuss those ingredients shortly.)
For now, we’ll say this: We’ve all been there. One peek inside your bathroom cabinet, and you can’t help but look away. You’re shocked to find dusty brushes, expired body masks, and hair serum that’s old enough to start kindergarten. Don’t even get us started on some of the chemicals you see on the ingredients label!
You may want to throw some of these items out, and we’d certainly encourage you to do so.
But what do you replace them with? How can you give your beauty regimen the springtime update it deserves? This is the true purpose of a beauty detox.
When it comes to skincare (or any kind of personal care), the ingredients you use matter. Here are three tips for spring-cleaning your inventory:
Get Rid of Expired Products
Don’t procrastinate. Now is the perfect time to go through your bathroom cabinet or toiletry bag and toss anything that’s past its expiration date. Old products can harbor bacteria, lead to skin irritation, and even increase your risk of infection. These potential problems just aren’t worth it.
Some good news, though: Most products have a symbol on the packaging that tells you when they expire. Generally, the product will inform you how many months it’s safe to use after you open it. Lip balm, for example, should be tossed after six to 12 months, while foundation can last up to a year.
If you don’t know how long a product has been open, use common sense. The old adage “better safe than sorry” definitely applies here. So if you find a face mask in a cabinet you haven’t opened in years, it’s probably best to toss the product.
Look for Certified Organic Products
Many beauty products contain harmful chemicals that can hurt your skin and your overall health. Coal tar, heavy metals like lead, and butylated compounds are just some examples of cosmetic ingredients you’ll want to avoid.
Other brands state their products are “clean,” “natural,” or “non-toxic”—but these claims are vague and often misleading. Since they aren’t regulated, certain companies may actually be greenwashing their audiences.
So what’s the answer? We encourage you to look for Certified Organic products that meet the USDA’s high standards. Look for a Certified Organic label to make sure you’re steering clear of unethical practices or questionable ingredients like parabens and phthalates.
Create Your Own Natural Cleanser
Here’s an important reminder: Plan to clean your beauty brushes at least once a month, using either a gentle cleanser or soap and warm water.
You can take things a step further by making your own gentle cleanser. At Sky Organics, our products are 100% Certified Organic and can be used alone or alongside others. So if you’re curious about creating your own DIY cleanser, simply mix the following ingredients together:
• 1/2 cup liquid castile soap
• 1/2 cup warm distilled water
• 7 drops of our Jojoba Oil
Blend gently, and rest assured your beauty brushes are getting a thorough cleanse.
These are just some of the common personal care ingredients you’ll want to avoid:
Phthalates
From fertility issues to a higher risk of cancer, these hormone disruptors present serious risks. We mean it when we say you should keep phthalates out of your beauty routine.
Aluminum
Found in certain eye makeup products and deodorants, aluminum can cause skin irritation. There is also some discussion that it may be a carcinogen, although the research is inconclusive.
Formaldehyde
Another day, another preservative—formaldehyde can irritate the eyes and skin. Plan to avoid personal care products that list them as an ingredient.
Polythylene Glycols (PEGs)
Though PEGs aren’t inherently toxic, some people experience allergies or an upset stomach when they use products that contain them.
Methyl and Propyl Parabens
Research shows that these preservatives are hormone disruptors. We recommend that you keep them far, far away from your beauty routine.
As the weather gets warmer, it’s time to switch to lighter, more breathable skincare products that won't clog your pores or weigh down your skin. We’re talking about pure ingredients that provide hydration without feeling heavy. Here are some options to consider:
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba Oil is lightweight and great for warmer weather. Think of it as a pure, potent alternative to serums that are loaded with chemicals (or heavier products you may use in the less humid months of summer). Apply 1-3 drops to clean, dry skin—or add it to your favorite product.
Rosehip Oil
Say goodbye to less clean brightening serums, and say hello to Rosehip Oil. This product supports the bright, dewy complexion we all crave. Bonus: It’s a powerful, single-ingredient Certified Organic product full of healthy vitamins and essential omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.
Rosewater
Sky Organics’ Organic Rosewater Facial Mist is perfect for all you spring cleaners out there. 100% pure and steam-distilled, you can use this product to stay hydrated and balance excess oils. This mist is a great skin refresher on warm spring days, and a good alternative to toners that may contain chemicals.
Fractionated Coconut Oil
Have you checked the ingredients in your makeup removers? These products are often full of scary chemicals. Look no further than Fractionated Coconut Oil for moisture, massage, and good health. The lightweight, single-ingredient product is absorbent yet entirely free from residue.
Pro tip: Mix Fractionated Coconut Oil with Rosewater for an even lighter (but still all-natural) alternative. We promise you won’t regret it.
Organic Lip Balms
Did you know that the lips absorb topical ingredients even faster than the skin? This means you should definitely be aware of what’s inside your favorite balm. We encourage you to prioritize top-quality ingredients over chemical alternatives with our Organic Lip Balms. Available in fresh, delicious flavors, they’re made with nourishing plant oils and beeswax that lock in moisture.
These ingredients are must-haves for spring and all year round. Use them on their own or as a base for your custom skincare routine. Happy spring cleaning!

]]>Rosehip Oil has long been renowned for its vitamin-rich properties that are especially beneficial to drier skin, but it’s also quick-absorbing, which makes it good for those with oilier skin, too. It’s ideal for summer because of its light and dry consistency that is known to provide a non-greasy after-feel. It also contains natural antioxidants like vitamins A and C, which help protect your face from environmental stressors.
Rosewater Facial Mist or Clarifying Facial Toner
Between the heat and blazing sun, a facial mist can come in handy to cool down and give your skin a fresh, dewy look. Facial Mists have quickly become skincare essentials especially during the hot, summer months, and our Rosewater Facial Mist is the perfect mid-day refresher to help hydrate and balance skin to keep it feeling nourished and soft. And our Clarifying Facial Toner is for those oilier skin types that need to refresh and soothe their skin without over hydrating it.
Our Tinted Lip Balms are the perfect treat for long summer days. Not only do they moisturize your lips and keep them soft, but they also add a sheer wash of color and luminous shimmer. You can even use them as a highlighter or eyeshadow to quickly turn your day look into a night look for those summer days that turn into nights.
When we talk about having a summer glow - we don’t just mean on your face. Your body requires a daily dose of hydration and care if you want it to shimmer in the sun! Our Coconut Oil + Vitamin E is full of nourishing fatty acids that deliver intense moisture to keep your skin photo-ready year round. It’s especially useful during summer because it has glow-boosting antioxidants, like vitamin E, that help deeply nourish and replenish dry skin, especially after a day in the sun.
Vacation glow hair is trending just in time for summer. Don’t get us wrong, we love the balayage and the highlights, but this year you can go on without them and instead give your hair a natural shine. Our Argan Oil softens and smooths hair while boosting its shine and it deeply nourishes dry hair to combat the drying effect of salt and pool water. So no matter where you are - a humid beach or a bustling city - you can breathe new life and shine to your locks.

As it’s the biggest organ in our bodies, we should remember to take care of our skin. But are jade rollers, gua shas and dry brushing the answer? I took it upon myself to test out these skincare tools so you don’t have to.
What It Does: The Gua Sha, also known as a “scraper” tool, is a facial massage tool rooted in Chinese medicine that has swept the beauty world. Originally a body treatment, this practice has since adapted to be used in facial therapies by sweeping the face in an upward motion. It’s also said to help promote blood flow, drain the lymphatic system, eliminate bloating and tone your skin complexion. And after reading all about its benefits and seeing a range of impressive before and after photos, I was led to order my very own gua sha tool.
How To Use It: There are so many varieties and shapes of gua sha tools that there isn’t really a one-size-fits-all approach to how to use this tool. That said, there are fundamentals to this facial tool that you can incorporate into your method. To begin, add a quarter-sized amount of your favorite facial oil (I use our Bakuchiol Night Serum) and apply it over your entire face and neck. Then, with the tool, use gentle pressure and apply even strokes against your skin in an upwards motion.
My Experience: My first impression of the tool is that it is kind of time consuming. It works best when it is part of your everyday skincare routine, like in the morning or at night, but obviously, some days you just don’t have the time to spend 5-7 minutes scraping your face. Other than that, though, I have seen and felt differences in my face and neck. The puffiness definitely decreased over time and I did see a tighter jawline develop. Like with any skincare routine, consistency is key, so even though you don’t have time to use it everyday, I do recommend using it up to 5 times per week to see visible results. What It Does: Face Rollers have seemingly been a trend for longer than gua shas, but in reality they both date back to seventh-century China. Simply put, a face roller is a tool made out of jade (or other stones) and used for face massages. The benefit of a jade roller, as opposed to giving yourself a massage with your hands, is that the cool temperature of the stone may help alleviate puffiness. Plus it helps topical products absorb better into your skin.
How To Use: The tool generally features a larger stone for cheeks, jaw and forehead and a smaller stone for under the eyes and around the mouth. After cleansing your skin and applying your facial oil or moisturizer, grab the jade roller out of the fridge (optional) and apply gentle pressure while rolling the tool from the center of your face in upward and outward motions - aiming for 10 to 20 strokes on each section of the face.
My Experience: After learning about jade rollers and using one on my own skin for a couple of weeks I noticed several things. Firstly, I noticed that you can technically recreate the same massaging technique with your hands - minus the cooling sensation of the roller. And while I did notice a slight difference in the puffiness of my face, it wasn’t substantive. So it brought up the question: is it worth it? In my opinion, and in comparison to the benefits of the gua sha, I don’t think the jade roller is as beneficial as people think it is. And while the sensation may feel nice on the skin, the effects can be achieved just by using your hands.
What It Does: Dry brushing, much like jade rollers and gua shas, is essentially a self-care ritual that has been practiced for centuries by ancient Greeks and Native American tribes. Its main purpose has been to promote blood circulation while ridding the body of any dry or dead skin cells. It is said to stimulate blood flow and leave your skin feeling rejuvenated. And while there are a lot of claims about the benefits of dry brushing, there is almost no scientific evidence that backs those claims.
How To Use: The key to dry brushing is the stiff bristles. Before showering, use your dry brush in small, upward movements and circular motions starting at the feet. It’s important not to press too hard - so you should find a balance where it’s rough enough to exfoliate, while making sure not to irritate or harm your skin. After your shower you can apply a moisturizer or a body oil to hydrate your skin.
My Experience: I began my dry brush journey with the impression that my skin will glow and feel softer, but I did not have much hope for anything else. I made sure to use it two to three times a week right before jumping in the shower and making sure to moisturize afterwards with a body oil like Fractionated Coconut Oil. After sticking to this routine for 3 weeks, and overall, having patience with it, I did begin to notice a clear radiance from my skin! I had never seen my skin glow that way ever before and no fake tan, or real tan for that matter, ever made my skin look as good. But I didn’t notice any difference in my cellulite like some websites claimed. So is dry brushing going to make your skin glow? Sure! But will it actually help dissolve fat and rid your legs of cellulite? Not likely. Do I recommend it? 100% - we spend so much time taking care of the skin on our face but not much attention is paid to the skin on our bodies. We should definitely give it more love and dry brushing could be the way to start.

Gotu kola and hyaluronic acid were some of the most sought-out skincare ingredients throughout 2019 and 2020. But 2021 is bringing us a whole new trend: bakuchiol, also known as a gentler, plant-derived alternative to retinol.
We’ve heard skincare experts rave about the benefits of retinol, but they’re not really talking about the side effects of retinol. As good as it may be for some people’s skin, it is a chemical. And sometimes, chemicals may not be the best long-term solutions for your skin. From your cleanser to your moisturizer, your skin absorbs everything you apply to it. This is why people look for natural alternatives.
Found in the seeds and leaves of a plant native to Eastern Asia, bakuchiol is one of the most soothing, natural ingredients and has been used in Ayurvedic medicine and Chinese practices for more than 3,000 years.
Bakuchiol helps improve the appearance of an even skin tone and complexion giving your skin a natural glow!
Retinol is believed to increase sensitivity to sunlight, but unlike retinol, bakuchiol can be applied day and night so you can benefit from all of its antioxidant properties all day long!
We are so fortunate to have access to global ingredients, such as bakuchiol, that are rooted in the traditions of so many cultures. We value the gifts of these plants, and the cultures that give them to us, by using bakuchiol as safely as possible to formulate products that care for our land, so our land can return the favor to us.
After decades of processed foods and mass production, millennials began pushing back with a movement to reconnect food culture with nature. They began to learn about the positive impacts of organic food and farming. Organic food is now mainstream, and the organic food category continues to experience record breaking growth. Food is a leading indicator of where the organic movement is headed. Many consumers start the wellness process with what they eat and then lean into other items in their daily lives.
Did you know that prior to around 1920s, all farming was organic? It wasn’t until the 1930’s that scientists began to discover chemicals. And as scientists were learning diverse ways to combine and use these chemicals in all aspects of our lives, the organic movement was also picking up.
And so, as we were becoming more surrounded by chemicals in our food, cleaning, and skincare products, we were also gaining more knowledge about the negative impacts they can have on our health. It did not take long to make the leap from what we were putting in our mouths to what we were putting on our skin as the skin is the body’s largest organ.
As the passionate Gen-Z is now becoming the largest demographic and the loudest voice today, we are seeing a rise in organic products, especially in skincare. They are not only concerned about the impact on their own bodies but also protecting the planet for their future and the future of their families. We are all understanding that we must focus on our sustainable practices. USDA organic farming practices help improve water quality, conserve energy, increase biodiversity and contribute to soil health.
Dean Neiger, co-founder of Sky Organics shares that “Sky Organics ingredients are produced under USDA’s strict standards for organics. These standards help farmers sustainably grow and harvest ingredients to minimize the environmental impact. So, while we are gaining beautiful ingredients, we are healing the earth not just for our generation, but for generations to come. I am so proud of the community we are creating together."
]]>When it comes to living a more sustainable lifestyle, small changes can make a huge impact in the long run. It’s not an all-or-nothing thing.
Earth Day comes around once a year, when in reality, everyday should be Earth Day. We should all be putting our part to reflect on our actions and seeing how we can consistently improve them to benefit the wellbeing of our home and mother nature.
Here are some small actions we can ALL start incorporating into our daily lives to make everyday Earth Day:
Going organic is one of those “small step giant leap,” actions that you can take. Organic farming and an organic diet can safeguard and improve the health of the environment and the health of your family. When products are made through USDA certified organic practices, they are helping preserve the wellbeing of the soil and our atmosphere. If you don’t do it for yourself, do it for your children and your children’s children. Because when you go organic you are healing the earth not just for your generation, but for future generations to come.
We know, recycling is not a silver-bullet solution to our problems (better to skip the single-use plastics altogether, but more on that later). But if you’re going to recycle, at least do it right. Otherwise, you may end up doing more harm than good. Sometimes committing yourself to a resolution like recycling can be easier said than done. It requires huge changes in your everyday lifestyle. But instead of changing the way you love, change the way you think. Educate yourself on how to properly recycle, stop buying single-use items, and start giving away things that may have some life left in them!
Did you know that those convenient plastic grocery bags are only used for an average of 15-20 minutes? (According to a 2017 study done by the New York Department of sanitation.) Meanwhile they have a lifespan of 500-1,000 years in the landfill. Suddenly that convenience is looking very inconvenient for our planet. Just keep reusable bags in your car or your backpack, and make sure to always carry it with you. Small actions like this can have big impacts. You can even try to take this to the next level. I challenge you to see if you can go a whole day without single-use plastic. And then come back here and let us know how it went.
We all do it. Some might even do it without realizing they’re doing it. Fast fashion clothing retailers like Zara, Forever 21 and H&M make cheap and fashionable clothing, but the cost comes at a high price. According to the UN Environmental Programme, the fashion industry is the second-biggest consumer of water and is responsible for 8-10% of global carbon emissions - more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. The effects of fast fashion are so lengthy, they can have their own blog post (let us know if you’re interested in one), but to put it plainly, start buying from vintage stores or sustainable brands if you want to take a step in the right direction.
And lastly, and probably the most important action you can take is to get involved. You can start by picking up trash in your own neighborhood, support organic farms, attend an Earth Day event and meet people who will educate you further. Find an angle that truly speaks to you. From choosing brands that participate in sustainable practices to finding earth-wise charities that get involved with causes you can relate to, it’s really easy to make small changes that can add up to a big difference. If only New Year’s resolutions were this easy.
]]>You know the drill. The transition from winter to spring calls for an adjustment in our daily routines to adapt to the new temperatures. Now that we have a clean space (and some peace of mind from all of that clutter), let’s head to the bathroom cabinet to see how we can swap our skincare routine to fit the warmer temperatures that spring has to offer!
While there are some heavy-duty products that you can put away for now, there are some skincare essentials, like Rosehip Oil, that you can use pretty much year round! Here are some tips on how you can use Rosehip Oil to fit your new springtime routine.
On its own, Rosehip Oil is an incredible facial oil that has lots of benefits and antioxidants like vitamins A and C. It’s a “dry” oil, which basically means that it absorbs quickly and won’t clog your pores, so even oily skin types can use it. Instead of using a thick moisturizer to hydrate your skin, consider swapping to Rosehip Oil to help keep your skin nourished, balanced and soft all season long!
After a long, cold winter, your skin can’t help but be rough and dry. If you really want to get that natural, summer glow, you need to get rid of those leftover layers of dead skin from winter. Since Rosehip Oil is a natural source of vitamin A, it works to help you remove those leftover layers. Make your own gentle DIY exfoliator by combining 1 cup of ultra-fine sugar with ¼ cup of olive oil and 1 tbsp. of Rosehip Oil. Make sure the sugar is ultra-fine - if it’s too coarse it can damage your skin. Massage it into your face gently applying barely any pressure and rinse with warm water to reveal soft skin.
Weather changes can throw your skin out of balance, leaving it red, irritated and cracked. And not only is the skin on your face affected by these changes, but so is the skin on your body. You can apply our pure Rosehip Oil on cracked and dry areas of your body, such as your elbows and heels to help nourish and rehydrate them. You can also pour some oil to a small tube and apply it throughout the day on your lips to soften them.
Nobody wants lifeless hair through spring. Nature is basically calling for us to let our hair down and let it thrive, but not before you get a little help from Rosehip Oil! Some hair masks (like our new Treatment Mask) are designed to reinvigorate your hair, but add a little Rosehip Oil to your blend, and voilà! You’ve got a potion that’s scalp-soothing, too. You can also apply it directly on your scalp to treat any dryness or flakiness.
Rosehip Oil isn’t only for your skincare routine - it also works as a part of your makeup routine. You can mix it with your liquid foundation or with your blush to help achieve a dewy skin tone. Or you can even use it on its own on your cheekbones as a highlighter, on your lips as lipgloss or even on your brows to help brush and style them. The possibilities are endless with what you can do with Rosehip Oil!
