CBD in Beauty: What You Need to Know

CBD: The controversial ingredient that has everyone talking and is taking the beauty and wellness worlds by storm.  Still not sure what it is or what the fuss is all about? We’ll break it down for you. CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of many compounds found in Hemp. Unlike THC, another hemp derived compound, CBD is non-psychoactive, therefore will not get you “high” when ingested or applied topically to the skin. CBD is also not to be confused with Hemp Seed Oil, which is a carrier oil cold-pressed from Hemp Seeds - you can find our Hemp Seed Oil here

CBD is most popularly known for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic (pain relieving), and stress-relieving properties (ever been told to take CBD oil to help improve your sleep, or help manage stress or anxiety?). However, CBD’s benefits don’t stop at its ability to promote relaxation and overall wellness. Read on to learn what CBD infused products can do for your beauty routine.

1. Calm Blemishes

Fun fact: Inflammation is often the root cause of blemishes, redness, and most skin irritations. Which means CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties go to work on angry, blemished skin – calming zits and breakouts, doing away with redness, and keeping skin cool, calm, and collected.

 2. Moisturize

CBD is packed with vitamin E and essential fatty acids that moisturize and hydrate skin and hair, making dry patches and dehydrated strands a thing of the past. CBD’s moisturizing properties also allow it to boost the effectiveness of whatever moisturizing products you use along with it.

 3. Protect Skin from Environmental Damage

CBD is full of antioxidant properties, which on top of combatting inflammation, work to protect skin from free radicals and help prevent sun damage (the number 1 cause of fine lines and wrinkles).

4. Strengthen Skin’s Barrier

Fatty acids found in CBD nourish and moisturize skin, keeping it plump and hydrated. They also help reinforce and strengthen skin’s barrier – which enhances skin’s ability to hold onto moisture and combat dryness, and its ability to keep blemish-causing bacteria out of your pores.

5. Slow Signs of Aging

CBD contains Vitamin A (a group of compounds that includes retinol and retinoic acid) which is known for its age-defying properties. The vitamin promotes skin cell repair, helps even skin’s tone and texture, and keep skin looking radiant and youthful.
