The DIY Hand Cream Recipe We All Needed

With all of us washing our hands so often right now, our skin may be left feeling stripped and dried out. Enter our DIY Hand Cream recipe - arguably our simplest DIY yet, this nourishing cream requires only 4 ingredients. So let's get started:

2 TBSP Beeswax Pellets – these pellets act as a hydrating base for the hand cream and bind all of our nourishing ingredients together

4 TBSP of Shea Butter – 100% raw and unrefined, Shea Butter gives our hand cream its emollient properties while locking in hydration.

1 TBSP of Jojoba Oil – Jojoba Oil’s lightweight and non-greasy texture helps make sure your hands don’t feel like an oil slick after every application.

5-10 drops of the Essential Oil of your choice - We went with Organic Lavender Oil because we'll get the *calm* vibes wherever we can these days.

What to do

This part is so easy, you’ll come out of quarantine with hand creams for all of your friends.

Combine all of the ingredients in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 30 second intervals (stirring every 30 seconds) until melted. It took us about 3 rounds to get everything melted, but it will depend on your microwave. Note — the beeswax pellets will always be the last to melt completely.

Remove the mixture from microwave. Now’s the time to add any essential oils in if you want to add a scent! About 5-10 drops will do, and stir to combine.

Chill in the fridge for 20 minutes, then mix with a hand mixer (or with a spoon - though this may take much longer) until the cream reaches a thick, whipped texture.

Apply a small amount to dry hands and enjoy!
