When it comes to keeping the skin soft and hydrated, moisturizers have held the top spot in many beauty guides for getting the job done. Call us biased, but we believe that face oils are the better champs. Along with providing moisture, face oils have tons of other benefits. Check out our reasons below for why you should make the switch from moisturizer to face oil!
Face oils work extremely well in helping moisturize skin because they tend to be lightweight and are readily absorbed into the skin’s pores. Being able to sink deep into the skin allows face oils to provide longer lasting hydration than moisturizers which often sit on top of the skin.
They’re More Compatible With Your Skin
Face oils are extremely compatible with the human body since the outermost layers of the skin are oil-based. Since face oils are made out of simple ingredients extracted from things like fruits and nuts and already mimic the body’s natural chemistry, they are less likely to cause irritation or feel harsh to people with sensitive skin. Moisturizers, on the other hand, tend to be mixed with many different ingredients and may have harsh chemicals.
Any Skin Type Can Use Them
Whether you have dry skin, oily skin, or fall somewhere in between, face oils will work for you. Dry skin is the result of the body producing little to no oil while oily skin is the result of producing too much. Contrary to what you’d think, completely stripping the body of its natural oil will only cause the skin to produce more. Face oils are a good, long-term solution to keeping the skin hydrated and healthy because they help regulate the oil imbalance itself, rather than simply the symptoms.
Oil + Oil= 😊?
No one is saying to #cancel moisturizers. They’ve held the top spot in beauty routines for a reason after all. But, if you are looking for long lasting moisture and want to use more simple, single-ingredients, face oils are the way to go. Below are just a few of our favorites!
Rosehip Oil - referred to as a “dry oil,” rosehip oil is lightweight and doesn’t clog up the pores which makes for those with oily skin
Grapeseed Oil - contains anti-inflammatory properties which make it especially beneficial on easing any irritation or redness caused by dry skin.
Hempseed Oil - encourages healthy skin cell growth, reduces the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles, and helps decrease potential damage from UV rays. It works well for all skin types.
